While prayer walking Rome we meet priests, nuns, seminarians and brothers on the street, at bus stops or in shops, and explain our purpose of praying for them during the week. I wish you could see their faces become radiant when they hear of the care Bridge for Peace intercessors have for them. In addition, priests and nuns call to meet in our residence for personal sharing, prayer, and often lunch or dinner. We also receive invitations to visit congregations. At a recent visit to the Sisters of the Catechism we shared a joyful dinner with sisters from Mexico, Columbia, Kenya, and Uganda. The language mix was astonishing, as was their passion for Jesus. Before personal prayer, we invite those we meet to fill out green index cards with their prayer needs. When we're on the street, people lean against historic buildings to fill in the index cards while scooters and smart cars whiz by. On the bus priests balance against poles in the aisles, concentrating on writing down needs - a sibling sick at home, finance to continue their studies, the desire to grow in holiness. And at other times, prayer requests are written at the dinner table in a holy hush while the team prays silently for those listing their needs. At this point in the B4P Rome Prayer Walk the green index cards are piling up. Each one represents a precious person we have met during the week. Now we await emails and phone calls (even now we are hearing good reports) sharing stories of how God answers prayer.
